Dating men with overbearing mothers

now about italian boys..yes,they are mamaboys..years,for generations..spoil them, treat them like kings, have them under their wings..yes,italian mamas are strong, powerful.not mess with them.you embarasse them teh way they are,or forget it..you love this man,let him free,he will not be happy,if he will be between you and his mama..at the end you will lose...

MAMA is SAINT.always be..can not change that.better move on...italina husband is not for you..believe me i know italian men... She is not asking him to chose or cut ties with his family. Trust me, 24 yr olds in Rome don't ring their mothers every time they get to work or get home before 11pm. I'm of Italian-American descent and my mother was absolutely, positively nothing like that. He was a bit self-righteous and judgmental with the Catholicism, but that's about it.

Never once were my parents rude to a boyfriend or husband, nor did they ever talk down to them or speak badly about them to my sisters or me--even if they didn't like the guy (which we would find out after the fact, or very subtly when they gave him a sweater for Christmas).

and he also has a sister to contend with when it comes to his girlfreinds.

whomever he marries will be a part of us forever-ESPECIALLY if they have kids.

SHE is not in the relationship with them, nor should SHE be. It displays the very worst mentality associated with bad stereotypes.

The only time they spoke up was when a guy was abusive to one of my sisters, and I would expect that of any parent. Next you'll be telling us your father is in the Mob. She (and papa) fed, clothed and educated him for...24 years. Can you blame her for being very sure of who he marries?

my brother is just like every other Italian man i know here in the US as well as in Italy---he is all about this family and all about sticking together.

he can pull away all he wants, and he is the first to get us all in the same room, same vacation, same dinner out.

His mother still has her green card and never got the right to vote because her father believed women shouldn't have a political voice-their place is in the kitchen...
